On the big hand
a dove has perched
alone

Red clouds fume
in the afternoon silence.
And look:
the big clock hand
ticks;
it drops down a notch.
The dove's wings explode.
The frightened bird flies off
like an Egyptian soul.
I watch above the rooftops
a lost minute flitting
and disappearing.
And
the fear of the dove
sticks in my heart.
